Show detailsA fourth-generation family business owner, leader and strategist, Alex was previously Chairman of Applerigg, a private, family-owned business built on the foundations of a financial services group established by his great-grandfather in 1903. For over twenty years, he applied his entrepreneurial energy and time to found and grow the Applerigg group portfolio companies: Sandaire, an international multi-family investment office (recently purchased by Schroders); Yealand Administration, a fund administration company; and Horizons, a contemporary network and learning environment for the leaders of tomorrow. He is a Non-Executive Director of his family’s investment holding company, as well as of several private companies.
In addition to chairing Wheatsheaf Group, Alex is a Trustee of the Grosvenor Estate and Chairman of the Grosvenor Pension Plan.
Alex is a Director of the Family Business Network International, co-founded, is a Life President of the Institute for Family Business (UK) , has served as a Director of the Family Firm Institute Inc and is a Trustee of the Francis C Scott Charitable Trust.
Alex graduated from Exeter College, Oxford with an MA in Philosophy, Politics & Economics and holds an MBA from IMD, Lausanne.

Graham leads Wheatsheaf Group as its CEO – with the objective of optimising commercial and social benefit – ensuring that the solutions we bring in the way food is grown, produced, distributed and consumed enhance human health, our environment and enable producers to thrive.
Graham joined the Grosvenor Estate in March 2009 and was appointed Chief Executive of Wheatsheaf Group in 2011. Leading the business since its inception, Graham has helped grow Wheatsheaf into one of the largest and longest established investment teams in the sector.
Until 2009, Graham worked for The Co-operative Group as Director of Rural Estates where he was responsible for the promotion of a number of sustainable energy, rural and urban property development projects throughout the UK. Prior to this, he was an Associate Partner with the land management consultancy, Strutt & Parker, where he managed rural enterprises and landholdings throughout Scotland and Northern England. During this time, Graham created a farm management consultancy focused on restructuring traditional farm businesses.
Graham studied at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne (BSc Agriculture), The Royal Agricultural College (MSc Rural Land Management) and completed the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Programme in 2010. He is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Executive Director
Show detailsAnthony joined Wheatsheaf from Grosvenor, where he spent five years as Group Corporate Finance Director.
Prior to Grosvenor, Anthony was Head of Energy & Natural Resources M&A at KPMG Corporate Finance where he led a wide range of acquisition, disposal and other strategic advisory assignments across the sector.
His previous roles have included senior finance and corporate development positions at Philips Electronics, both in the Netherlands and China.
Group Finance Director
Show details"I am responsible for the finance activities of Wheatsheaf which include financial planning, reporting, tax and treasury. I also oversee IT, health and safety and risk management."
Fiona joined Wheatsheaf’s finance team in 2012 and was appointed as Group Finance Director in 2020. As well as managing the finance function, Fiona has led several M&A transactions and represented Wheatsheaf at portfolio companies.
Prior to joining Wheatsheaf, Fiona held the position of Finance Director at The Chester Grosvenor Hotel. While at the hotel she gained extensive operational experience in both customer-facing and back of house roles.
Fiona is a qualified Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA, CGMA) and holds a diploma in Corporate Treasury (AMCT).
Executive Director

Katrin joined Wheatsheaf as an Executive Director in 2019. Katrin has been a venture investor since 2004, including 10 years as a partner with a venture capital technology fund in the US and five years at Syngenta’s corporate venture capital group.
Prior to 2004 she worked with HSBC in both the UK and Japan in various trading and business development roles.
Katrin graduated from Somerville College, University of Oxford, with an MA in Mathematics; holds an Executive MBA from Duke University; and an MSc in Microsystems and Nanotechnology from Cranfield University.

Prior to joining Wheatsheaf, Monty spent more than 17 years with Dow AgroSciences in many commercial capacities in both North America and Asia. He also served as Corporate Vice President for The Dow Chemical Company and was responsible for venture investing, business development, and technology licensing.
Monty also served as President and CEO of Actagro, a soil and plant health specialty inputs business, for over six years. He successfully grew the business globally and led the business through a sale process to a strategic buyer in the Spring of 2019.
Monty holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alberta and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Queen’s University in Canada.

Prior to joining Wheatsheaf in 2015, Peter ran Genus PIC in EMEA. Prior to that, Peter worked with the privately held German pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim, where he held a number of international management positions within Animal Health.
Peter is on the boards of Vytelle Holdings, PrecisionLife and Synomics.
Peter is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Copenhagen University, qualified in Agriculture and holds an Executive MBA from IMD, Lausanne.
Interim Group Finance Director
Show detailsSarah joined the Wheatsheaf Executive team on an interim basis in August 2020 from the Grosvenor Estate's Family Office where she was Head of Tax and Investment Reporting.
Before joining Grosvenor in 2013, Sarah worked with PwC’s Tax practice, specialising in international structuring.
Sarah is a Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) and holds a degree in Management Science from the University of Manchester. She is an alumnus of IMD, Lausanne and an affiliate of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
She is also a member of the Board of Trustees of National Museums Liverpool.

Stephan joined the Wheatsheaf Board as a Non-Executive Director in May 2017. Since then, he has assumed increasing responsibilities within the Group, becoming a full time Executive Director in January 2019.
Stephan has worked with entrepreneurial growth companies since the 1980s. He has been a private equity investor since 1999, investing in software, communications technology, biotechnology, clean energy and agricultural businesses. He led VantagePoint Capital Partners' $1Bn CleanTech Fund from its inception. More recently he served as a senior advisor in forming the Breakthrough Energy Ventures fund and was the Managing Partner of Resourcient Group LLC. Stephan has also acted as co-founder of several companies and has helped "raise" five "unicorn" companies reaching valuations of between $1 and $100 billion.
Stephan is a graduate of the School of Architecture at the University of Virginia (BCP) and the University of Virginia School of Law (JD).

Ceri joined Wheatsheaf in 2014 to assist the CEO with laying the foundations of the organisation for future growth. Ceri’s role evolved into the investment and portfolio team where her skills are leveraged to add value to the development of the investment portfolio.
Prior to joining Wheatsheaf, Ceri spent 13 years working in partnership with C-suite and board level executives in a variety of global financial services companies.
Ceri holds a Masters in Translation Studies from London Metropolitan University and BA Joint Hons in French & Spanish from Leicester University.

Chris joined Wheatsheaf in 2019 from Grosvenor Group, the international property company, part of the Grosvenor Estate.

Jack joined Wheatsheaf in 2016 in a graduate role after leaving university before being made an associate in 2018.
